Sports Betting – What’s the Deal?

0 Game Walkthrough No Comments

There is nothing, it seems, quite as natural to human beings as betting is. Betting has been a part of human culture on every continent on Earth. From the Natives of North America to China and everywhere in between, placing a wager on the outcome of a game has been a part of sports life.

Sports betting continues to be a big part of our culture today. Just as in times past, there is not a single sport you can name that doesn’t have some kind of betting audience. Proponents of sports betting say that it is a harmless way to add a little fun to the game. Even if you have never been to a bookmaker, odds are that you have made some kind of wager on a sports event. It might be a fantasy pool, it might just bet for a beer with a buddy, but you have been drawn by the appeal of making a correct prediction.

For some people, sports betting is more than just a way to spice up a favorite past time; it is big business. All over the world, bets are placed on lacrosse, cricket, football, soccer, baseball, and every other sport you can name. Some people win big, some people win consistently, but it’s always the books that come out on top. Let’s take a deeper look at what sports betting is all about, and some of the burning questions people have on the topic.

Is sports betting legal?

One of the biggest questions surrounding sports betting is whether or not the activity is legal. The fact is that in many parts of the world, sports betting is legal. Most of Europe and Asia regulate sports betting quite heavily, but bettors can place their wagers without fear of legal reprisals.

North America is a different story. In Canada and the United States, wagering on sports is only actually allowed in four states: Nevada, Delaware, Montana, and Oregon. Of these, only Nevada actually allows sports gambling outfits to operate.

Now, this does not necessarily mean that North Americans are out of luck if they want to wager on a game. The Internet has opened up a wide range of opportunities for residents west of the Atlantic to places bets on sports, although they must do so through books operated in an area where sports gambling is legal. Even so, the status of those operations is a little bit shady.

How does sports betting work?

Official sports bets, those which take place through bookies rather than buddies, are carefully measured odds offered by shrewd business number crunchers. Whether we are talking about Las Vegas or Beijing, you can be sure that the books are one step ahead of your average bettor when it comes to wagering.

This is not to say that you don’t stand a chance of winning when you place a bet, because one of the appeals of laying a wager on a sports event is that victory is equal parts knowledge and luck (as opposed to casino wagering, which is pretty much just luck no matter what Charlton Heston has to say!).

The sports books offer several different kinds of bets, all of which are designed so that the book itself makes a profit no matter the outcome of the event. That profit is known as the vigorish (vig for short). It’s usually around $10, paid by the person who loses the wager.

Generally, bettors will select one of two options when wagering on a sports event. The first is the money line, in which a straight up win by the team picked will result in money returned to the bettor. They look like this, in a

baseball game:

Chicago White Sox -200

New York Yankees +150

That example tells us two things. First of all, the White Sox are the favorites. That’s indicated by the negative sign. If you bet the Sox, then you have to put down $200 in order to win $100. That’s the second thing the example shows us; the amounts indicate how much you win if the team you select comes out on top. For the Yankees, the underdogs, you only have to pay $150 to get a shot at that hundred bucks. But, of course, the Yankees will have to win!

The other kind of wager made on sports is the spread. Here, bookmakers will offer bettors a chance to win even if the team they bet on loses. Here’s a look at how spreads are expressed:

Chicago Bulls -10

Denver Nuggets

Once again, the negative sign indicates that the Bulls are the favorite. However, in this case, a bettor wagers not on just who will win, but by how much. If you were to bet on the Bulls and they won, but only by 8, you would still lose the bet. The Bulls have to win by more than 10 points if a bet on them is to return money. Conversely, you could bet on the underdog Nuggets and still win if the team loses by less than 10 points.

So that’s a brief introduction to some of the basic points of sports betting. Read some more of our articles in order to get a more in depth understanding of what sports betting is all about!

Top Four Uses for Bluestone

0 Game Walkthrough No Comments

Bluestone can be found everywhere in modern cities, as well as in country gardens and estates, and even in ancient locations – such as Stonehenge – but it is considerably difficult to define. That’s because bluestone is a generic term that is commonly applied to a fairly broad range of minerals including hydrated copper sulphate, dolerite and even lazurite which is the base mineral of lapis lazuli. However, when we talk about the bluestone most often used in contemporary commercial applications, we are mainly referring to basalt which is the blue-grey stone often used in building and paving throughout Australia. While building and paving are the key uses for sandstone in contemporary times, it also enjoys some other uses in commercial and domestic locations. Here are the top four uses for bluestone:

1. Building:

Basalt is used extensively as a building material in Australia, with some buildings such as Victoria’s Pentridge Prison being constructed entirely from bluestone blocks. It is an ideal material for building because it offers a high level of slip and scratch resistance both in its indoor and outdoor use. Since it is hard wearing and attractive, as well as being readily available and affordable, it has enjoyed a long-standing popularity in commercial, civil and residential projects.

2. Paving:

Due to its slip resistance, bluestone is also a top choice for paving stones for gardens, courtyards, steps, driveways and pool surrounds. It has been a popular paving material since the late 1800s so, when used today in pavers, it is guaranteed to evoke a classic vintage mood in gardens and outdoor entertaining areas. Pavers are cut from dense, strong slabs of the stone, which means that they are not only stylish but durable and low-maintenance.

3. Monuments:

Bluestone is commonly used to form large scale monuments and memorial masonry due to its availability, durability and low maintenance requirements. Stonehenge is probably the ultimate monument example, but a quick walk through any town centre or graveyard is guaranteed to reveal many more common instances of the stone’s use in the construction of tombstones, headstones, crypts and grottos.

4. Water features:

As well as being a top choice for paving in gardens, raw bluestone rocks or refined bricks are also used to create tiered fountains and water features in domestic and commercial properties. Due to the stone’s rich colour, unique texture and timeless appeal, it is the obvious choice for water feature walls and stepping stones, as well as pond islands and surrounds.

How to Give Her Thigh-Shaking Orgasms (Tonight!)

0 Game Walkthrough No Comments

Do you want to make your woman explode with orgasmic delight? Well, to be honest I am a little frustrated at how many men are completely clueless in the bedroom. They seem to think their ability to please women lies in the size of their penis. This is absolutely not true. Instead, it just takes a little effort to learn some proven methods – but most guys hate putting in that effort!

How to Give Her Thigh-Shaking Orgasms (Tonight!)

Stack Her Orgasms

This should be the corner stone of every man’s routine in the bedroom. What this does is get a woman to the point where she experiences a blended orgasm (an orgasm which originated from the clitoris and g-spot simultaneously) every 5-10 minutes. In other words, if this is done right, you’ll be able to give her as many orgasms as you want during sex – or until she passes out from all the pleasure!

Missionary with a Twist

When it comes to sex positions, this is probably my favorite. Get in the normal missionary position and then put her legs over your shoulders. Simply elevate her bottom off of the bed, and give her slow and powerful thrusts. What this elevation does is ensure you hit the g-spot each time. Try it out and I can guarantee she won’t be able to get enough!

Longer is Better

If you are going to stack her orgasms, then you’ll probably launch to the top of her list of lovers. But what will keep you up there is your sexual stamina. Since she will be experiencing an amazing orgasm every 5-10 minutes, you will need to be able to last as long as she wants. For some women, a couple of these strong orgasms is enough, but other may want more than 4 or 5!

LawBreakers Review – GameSpot

0 News No Comments

Ever since the introduction of jump pads in shooters, an FPS that offered greater freedom of flight was inevitable. Lawbreakers feels like one such result. There’s a moderate learning curve to maneuvering and surviving in-air and within the myriad anti-gravity spheres of the game’s arenas. When you do manage to adapt to sniping on the fly or boosting down a corridor with strategic purpose, the resulting outcomes can feel sublime even if you rarely receive the post-match MVP award.

Even with the possibility of vertical movement, FPS maps are wasted if there aren’t adequate weapons and abilities to play with. Lawbreakers addresses this challenge through an intelligible diversity in the armaments and specialities spread across its nine classes. There’s a reasonable assortment of advanced finesse fighters, beginner-friendly gateway classes, and well-rounded combatants who are useful in any map/mode combination. Even after about 100 matches, it was pleasing to see that no one class dominated, especially among high performing players, which is a credit to developer Boss Key’s thoughtfulness in honing these characters.

The lack of standardized weapon and movement types make each of these fighters all the more distinct. The Vanguard, for instance, offsets the immense potency of having a gatling gun by not having a secondary weapon. The lack of boosts or upward mobility makes the armored Titan seemingly useless when delivering the batteries in Overcharge, but this class is invaluable for guarding the battery when it’s charging at your base (the mode’s main goal). And learning how to optimize a role based on your team makeup, map, and mode is part of the fun, which is perpetuated by the welcome ability to change your classes mid-match.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8Gallery image 9Gallery image 10

While Lawbreakers isn’t the type of shooter that awards skill-boosting gear as you level up, discovering additional gameplay depth after getting the hang of flying becomes its own reward. Like experienced Street Fighter competitors, advanced players will feel a sense of accomplishment learning which tactics and attacks work best against specific classes. The challenge is in discerning who you’re fighting in a given moment since the already-cluttered user interface does little to convey that specific kind of visual information. Tailoring an attack strategy against a class works when you’re in a sudden mid-air duel just yards apart, less so when you’re trading shots across a courtyard and you can’t tell if you’re firing at an Assassin or a Wraith.

From the Asian-influenced architectural designs of the Redfalls map or the futuristic shopping mall that makes up the Promenade arena, Lawbreakers’ battlegrounds are well-carved to accommodate every class. The balanced mix of wide open spaces and confining passages in all of Lawbreakers’ maps present a wealth of combat scenarios. That includes turning the tables on the predator/prey dynamic or using your environment to gain a tactical advantage. The Juggernaut, in particular, will no doubt become the bane of many, thanks to the class’ hallway-sized pop-up barrier. Imagine playing the swift Assassin, thinking that you had a straight shot to deliver a ball to the goal, only to have the Juggernaut throw up a wall at the homestretch.

Such obstacles are easily countered by knowing the alternative routes. As with any shooter map, time is the only factor preventing you from committing every turn, shortcut, and hiding spot to memory. A common benefit of knowing the layout well is the palpable gratification of taking a battery or ball from the center of the map to your goal in less than 5 seconds in the Overcharge and Blitzball modes.

This map memory learning curve wouldn’t be as steep if not for all the time you spend running into locked doors and crossing invisible boundaries that pick away at your health. The maps’ other shortcoming is the environmental art style, where futuristic surroundings can’t mask the arenas’ uninspired visuals.

The contrast of richness in functionality and lack of memorable visuals also applies to Lawbreakers’ ensemble cast. Their designs support the notion that high detail does not equate to pleasing aesthetics. You only need to look to the class selection screen to see the fighting game influence, where a large and culturally diverse group exude personality, hungry for a fight. Yet despite their array of outfits and confidence-oozing body language, this group largely lacks the magnetic charisma that inspires loyalty and discussion of favorite characters in real life.

With any given Quick Match, your mileage will vary on how many strangers decide to work as team players. It’s a testament to the combative appeal of Lawbreakers that it’s not unusual to engage in brief isolated duels. Whether a player’s motivation is to distract an opponent from the objective or the bloodlust of notching another kill, it’s a shame that there is no Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch mode to add variety to a suite of match types centered around delivering items to goals or dominating territory.

Given the unique demands of anti-gravity gameplay, the PC version’s comprehensive yet concise tutorials turn out to be crucial for onboarding new users. That makes their puzzling omission from the PS4 version disappointing. The fact that you’re given currency for participating in the tutorials on PC only twists the knife. To further affirm the PC version as the preferred platform, we also experienced post-match glitches that forced us to relaunch the game from time to time on PS4.

Lawbreakers delivers dopamine hits beyond the arena through post-match score tallies and letter grading. Continuous play also begets higher player profile levels which–after every level up–yields Lawbreakers’ cosmetic customization reward: Stash Crates. Capitalizing on the ever-popular, anticipation-driven appeal of random card packs, these loot boxes–packing four items of various rarities (and the occasional in-game currency)–reinforce Lawbreakers’ replayability. And the spectacle of opening these crates is as ceremonious and well-animated as anything you’ll find in Madden or Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

One sign of any worthwhile team-based shooter is a level of accessibility where everyone feels they can contribute no matter their play style, and Lawbreakers succeeds in this manner. And while the lack of Deathmatch is a lost opportunity, its sufficient playlist of modes offers a viable outlet to flaunt your kill/death ratio, even if it’s at the expense of team success. What counts is that its fresh anti-gravity mechanics transcends its first-glance novel appeal and creates limitless combat situations that will be new and inviting to many shooter fans.

Trampolines and Outdoor Toys

0 Game Walkthrough No Comments

When you think of toys for children, people generally think of a games console, remote control cars or maybe dolls. Due to the bad weather in the UK, this is not surprising but there is always a great demand for outdoor toys to which some may find surprising but when you look what is on offer for your children, you may realise they are missing a treat.

During the summer months, the most popular outdoor toy hands down has got to be the trampoline, due to its exhilarating feeling that it gives when you shoot up in the air, being able to jump so much higher with other people on a large trampoline. What is good about a trampoline for children is that it gives them a great amount of exercise without them realising which in this day and age, is a very positive point. So many children have been raised without playing outdoors enough, but are addicted to games consoles, television and mp3 players and very rarely venture outdoors.

Outdoor activities give children a large amount of life skills such as how it feels to fall over and how to cope with it, nasty but something many children do not experience so later in life have not developed in other areas to such as social interaction with other children and adults. There are other types of outdoor toys which can help with this, which let children gain confidence, strength and overall health due to the aerobic side to having fun with them.

After trampolines, the next popular outdoor toy has got to be the climbing frame. In many parks, you find metal climbing frames which are two or three meters in height, with some having plastic tunnels on the ground to add an extra thrill. There are good, but even more popular are wooden climbing frames which can be huge and have a old fashioned look which when purchased for your back garden, lets it blend into the surroundings very well and does not give an intrusive feel.

With these frames, you usually get some sort of lookout tower, or two on the larger climbing frames which a clatter bridge in between. To get down to the ground are usually a pair or steps or even more fun, a slide which all kids love. Usually you will get add-ons such as swings, climbing ropes or climbing walls which give children a great workout but so much fun at the same time.

Similar to these are wooden playhouses which can be very orientated towards girls, but there are models available such as a cowboy hideout or climbing tower. These have a large amount of detail and some have an upstairs but do not give as much physical fun but to get fresh air is much better than sitting in front of that computer game.

Lastly there are go karts which we have all had a go in at one point in our lives, with some models having strong breaks, a large comfortable seat so much more luxurious than bog standards karts you would find a few years ago. So whichever activity you look for, from Jumpking trampolines to action tramps climbing frames, giving children the opportunity to give life experience and aerobic activity has only got to be a good thing.

Replay – Contra: Shattered Soldier – Features

0 News No Comments

Let me warn you right now – we don’t spend a lot of time talking about Contra: Shattered Soldier in this episode. It’s a great game and one that I have fond memories of playing when it released in 2002, but there were just too many distractions too ignore. We knew things were going to be different when the Replay machine started “calibrating” in the opening moments.

To cover some of the ground we simply never got around to in the episode, Andrew Reiner, Ben Reeves, the voice of Leo Vader, and I take a look at a great Contra reboot for the PlayStation 2. It’s a legitimate sequel to the previous games with lots of specific callouts to the Contras that came before it. We also, finally, check in with a missing staff member to find out what happened to them?

The Fight Or Flight Mechanism – A Self Defense Mechanism

0 Game Walkthrough No Comments

Fight or flight a self protective mechanism…

The fight or flight mechanism takes over when we are faced with a situation where we feel threatened or overwhelmed. It’s built into us! When we see a bear while camping in the woods, we flee, or run like a banshee to safety. The symptoms of fight or flight are caused by the sympathetic nervous system.

We have two parts to our nervous system:

A) The sympathetic part is the part of our nervous system that makes us run or fight.

B) The parasympathetic nervous system calms us down.

We need both parts of these two nervous systems to function normally in life. If the sympathetic nervous system runs amok, it can give us ulcers and panic attacks. When the sympathetic nervous system is over-riding the parasympathetic nervous system, it’s called sympathetic over-ride. But what most people don’t know and what most doctors don’t know is that this response can be initiated by an imbalance of the occiput, or your skull and a compensatory imbalance of the atlas or first cervical vertebrae. Not even cranio-sacral therapists know about this. It’s very new but very profound! The more practitioners and potential patients know about this connection the more this knowledge will come to light.

Some of the physical symptoms from an upper cervical misalignment are:

1. Pain in the upper cervical area.

2. Decrease motion in the upper cervical area, usually turning right or left.

3. A feeling of fullness in the ear or ears.

4. Dizziness

5. Swelling around the ears, occipital area, or swelling around the cranial bones around the ear.

6. Swelling and sponginess from the occipital/atlas junction up to the parietal lobes, both left and right (though more prevalent on the right parietal area).

7. Pain in the scalp, like a burning sensation.

8. Pain at the right or left eye (but more prevalent at the right eye where the orbital artery enters the orbit at the eyebrow, located medial to the middle of the eyebrow).

9. Distant disc pain at some other area down the spine, for example, if you push on the occipital/atlas vertebra, pain erupts at C5 or some other area distal to the occipital/atlas area, this area is felt do to a disc protrusion into the spinal cord at a more distal location. (Remember, it is all a hydraulic system: Exerting pressure at one spot will exert pressure at another spot because the character of fluid is to move and flow.)

10. Temporal mandibular joint pain and swelling.

11. Pain at the temples, both right and left.

12. Sinus pressure and pain throughout the cranium.

The above are just some of the more physical symptoms one can have but the following are from the body’s response to the pressure exerted on the dura-mater in the area of the foreman magnum, in other words a cranio-sacral misalignment.

Symptoms of Sympathetic over-ride

1. Dizziness

2. Stomach upset

3. Anxiety

4. Insomnia

5. Irritability

6. Sensitivity to light

7. Unable to concentrate

8. Depression

9. Muscle twitching

10. Rapid heart rate

11. Uneven heart rhythm

12. Burning sensation in the head and arms felt on the skin.

13. Panic attacks

14. Hard to take a deep breath.

Basically, all the above symptoms are caused because when the scissoring configuration takes place in the atlas/occiput area, the cranial sacral pump is not functioning correctly. When the pump is not functioning right, it causes the fight or flight response to “wake up”. This fight or flight response is a defense mechanism of the body. Usually the para sympathetic system works with the sympathetic nervous system. Working together, we have a healthy function between rest and relaxation and alertness. We are productive during our day because we sleep well at night and have a normal response to stresses during the day.

If we are in a state of sympathetic override, our minds become volatile and we over react to even small stresses during the day. When alone and when it’s quiet, worry and anxiety can start to bother us. Many people walk through their lives feeling all the symptoms of sympathetic override and feel they have to take medication to just get through each day and another medication to sleep well at night. I would say it’s better to get to the root of the problem. So you can see from the cervical misalignment symptomatology above, that neck pain is just a small part of the picture. Correcting this misalignment can be done either with force or non force depending on the practitioner.
